PDO Thread Lifts

PDO THREADS — The hottest kept secret to instantly look younger!

What are PDO Thread Lifts?

PDO Threads are an FDA approved procedure using PDO absorbable sutures to lift, tighten and smooth skin. The results are instant, improve with time, and require minimal downtime.

How do PDO Threads work?

They stimulate your body to produce inflammation.  As your skin gently reacts to the inserted threads, it will build collagen in the area where the suture is placed. The suture is broken down by the body over time (about 4-6 months) and the collagen produced is yours to keep.  PDO Threads are for the treatment of mild to moderate skin laxity.

Our skin is very good at repairing itself, and by inserting PDO Threads we make it ‘heal’ itself by creating new collagen, naturally! In medical terms “Selective Inflammatory Response” is the principle behind PDO Threads, just like a lot of aesthetic procedures such as Fractional Laser, Chemical Peels & MicroNeedling.

When will I see results / How long will they last?

You will have instant results, with minimal downtime. The duration will depend on the amount of threads used, and the area treated. Simple and quick procedures like smoker’s lines, wrinkles and lip border contour, usually last 3-6 months, while eye brow lift and neck lift tend to last about 12-18 months.

Will it hurt?

Dr. Hooker will use a topical medication and/or inject lidocaine to numb the area being treated.  Patients have reported feeling pressure and minimal discomfort during the procedure.  Minimal swelling is expected the next day as part of the response generated by the body to start collagen production.

What should I expect during my first treatment?

Prior to any treatment, you will receive a brief consultation with Dr. Hooker to discuss your goals and answer any questions. A topical numbing medication and/or lidocaine will be used to numb the area being treated.  Dr. Hooker is very meticulous when prepping the skin, having the highest standards and your safety in mind.  Total appointment time is approximately one hour.

Which areas can be treated?

threads-treatment-areas

Although PDO Threads can be inserted almost anywhere, one area where they are especially effective is the neck and jawline. The lower third of the face is challenging to treat effectively with Botox/Dysport/Jeuveau, or Dermal Fillers, which are most effective in the upper and middle third of the face, respectively.

How do I prepare for this procedure?

Carefully review PRE and POST treatment guidelines.

What are the most common side effects?

The most common side effects are mild discomfort, soreness, bruising, and bleeding. Very rarely does one need to think about infection, suture migrating or becoming visible through the skin. There is minimal to no downtime with this procedure.   Minimal swelling is expected as part of the body’s response to start collagen production.

What other treatments might I need?

PDO Threads can be combined with other treatments for an even better, longer lasting result.  During your consultation, Dr. Hooker will recommend the best treatment for your particular needs.
