Micro needling Facial Rejuvenation

What is Micro Needling Facial Rejuvenation?

Micro Needling Skin Rejuvenation is a treatment that triggers your skin to rapidly build collagen by creating micro-point punctures to skin, thus sending a message to your body for the immediate release of growth factors and the production of collagen. As you age, your body breaks down collagen, leaving you with scars, wrinkles, and sagging skin. The only way to stop this process and reverse these signs of aging is to slow the breakdown process by stimulating your body to rebuild the lost collagen.

How does it work?

The concept of Micro Needling is based on your skin’s ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage, such as cuts, burns, and other abrasions. Immediately after the injury occurs, your skin goes to work dissolving the old damaged tissue and replaces it with new. Collagen regrowth can continue for months after your treatment, but results can start to be seen as early as 3 weeks.

Micro Needling wipes away scars, fine lines & wrinkles,
large pores, stretch marks, and many other skin conditions. Results are
comparable to fractional laser without the cost and downtime.

Will the micro-needles leave marks or damage my skin?

As the device glides over your skin, it gently inserts the needles to create microscopic punctures to the skin which will temporarily push open your pores. This is received by your skin as “damage” which initiates the healing process. The needles are so small that you will not see any marks nor experience any permanent scarring.

What should I expect during my first treatment?

Prior to any treatment, you will receive a brief consultation with Dr. Hooker to assess your treatment goals, and determine if you can successfully be treated.

The treatment is performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of a brand new, sterile needle head. The treatment is normally completed within 60 minutes depending on the area being treated. Dr. Hooker will apply a topical numbing medication to your skin to ensure your comfort.

What will I look like after the treatment?

After the treatment, your skin will be slightly red and flushed in appearance, similar to the look of a moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch. This will diminish greatly within the next two hours following your treatment and completely within the next 24 hours.

How soon will I see results?

Visible results of your skin rejuvenation are generally seen after just 6-8 weeks following procedure and improve further over time. A series of treatments is usually recommended to achieve optimum results, however skin improvement is noticeable after just one treatment.

How should I prepare for my Treatment?

Carefully review PRE and POST treatment guidelines.

How many treatments will I need?

Each patient’s skin conditions are different and require different levels of treatment. Those with mild wrinkles and fine lines may see improvement after just one treatment while more advanced skin conditions like acne scarring may need more than one session. The number of treatment sessions required will be determined during your consultation with Dr. Hooker.

Is it safe?

Micro Needling does not involve injections and therefore allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely to occur. It can be safely performed on all skin colors and types. There is no risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation as the melanocytes remain intact, like the epidermis, during micro-needling. It is minimally invasive with minimal if any downtime (less than 24hrs), and requires simple after-care.

What are the contraindications of Micro Needling treatments?

Contraindications and precautions include; keloid or raised scarring; history of eczema, psoriasis and other chronic conditions; history of actinic (solar) keratosis; history of Herpes Simplex infections; history of diabetes; presence of raised moles, warts or any raised lesions on targeted area. Absolute contraindications include; scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities; Rosacea and blood clotting problems; active bacterial or fungal infection; immuno-suppression; scars less than 6 months old; and facial fillers in the past 1 month.
